About Fila Philippines
1911 ITALIAN ORIGINS
FILA Italy was established by two brothers in the southern district of Italy in 1911. It first entered the retail industry through specializing in undergarments. The company began apparel distribution in the 1950s and made its mark in the tennis industry in the 1970s employing tennis legends such as Bjorn Borg and Boris Becker.
GIANSEVERO FILA, who with his three brothers, started a knitwear company in Biella, Italy.
The Rise of the Company
FILA started in the Philippines in 1983, under Fil-Asia Apparel, specializing in apparel. In the early 1990s it shifted from apparel to specializing on footwear under a new company, FILA Philippines with an entirely new look.
The rise of Grant Hill in the NBA helped FILA become one of the local market’s leaders in Basketball shoes. In 1997, FILA once again changed its look and under ‘ISportlife Inc.’ began an uphill battle with the leading industry giants in the market. Through hard work, commitment, and an unwavering faith in God, FILA has become one of the country’s biggest footwear giants.
Since 2004, FILA has been one of the most aggressive brands in terms of business development. It has expanded market reach through 48 stand-alone boutiques and has positioned itself in 45 SM Department Stores, Robinson’s Department Stores, Landmark, specialty sports houses such as Toby’s, Olympic Village, Royal Sporting House, and Sports Central, as well as Ever Grand Central and Ever Commonwealth. We have also joined the loop of stores for Metro Gaisano, Gaisano Capital, Gaisano Grand and NCCC, all of which are considered leaders and pioneers in their respective provincial territories.
“Everyone deserves authentic
world-class sports shoes”
FILA revolves around the vision and mission that everyone deserves authentic world-class sports shoes, a statement coined by FILA President, Cris Albert. It has served as a guide when developing products.
FILA Philippines' shoes are carefully and meticulously designed locally by a team of creative minds working in the company. Having locally designed products enables the designers to create products that our customers want and are looking for.
